n0ob audio question - DIY needed
so ive done some research. and i didnt get very far. i do recall someone saying there is a code needed for the stock radio? can someone clear this up? because i've heard my mom talk about this..hearing it from the dealership. i just recently got a deck/subs and i wanna install it this week. professionally installed necessary? i do have friends who are experienced in installing decks or what not. its for an 04sedan/auto.if someone can hook up a DIY on this that'd be great ! and clear up that code thing ? i just want to make sure.thanks!

Their are a few DIYs on deck installs. In ICE forum and in DIY forum. Just search deck install. No professional needed if you have general stereo knowledge. If one person can do it any one can do it just research it. There is a code for the stock radio ,there should be a sticker in or on the glove box somewhere with the code on it. If no then have to get it from Honda. But, you won't need it if you are putting in a new deck. My Kenwood has its own code system that allows you to set the code. Just research and do it your way. It's better than paying for someone to do it their way.
And if you are in serious need and can't find any info just call Crutchfield and get them fo maybe fax some instructions to you. What they will give you is as close to a DIY as you can get. Of course you may have to pay for that option but $5 compared to $50 is a great savings.
Also you have to go to Honda to get the code because they won't give it without seeing that you own the car. I had this problem when I got my car. Also if you are doing it yourself look for a fiberglass DIY and build yourself a custom sub form instead of using a heavy, large, ugly box. Do it the right way the first time and the outcome will be so much better. Also it's not as hard as you would think to do.
