EX head on LX?

Has anyone done or thought about putting the EX head (with VTEC) onto an LX? How expensive do you think it would be? Where could you possibly find one?

hey cowboy, you might wanna think more about how lil HorsePower you'll gain from an EX head on the LX block.....this would be atmost 10hp stock without any performance mods....and then u gotta take into consideration that it is just not a smart head swap for the cost of the head and all that VTEC stuff under the hood. save ur money and wait for someone to make the engine mounts for a bigger engine in our car.

Blckcivic01: What the hell are you talking about? Cowboy said EX head, not EX header!

2k1EXracer: Why? 'Cause of what Blckcivic01 said?

silvervtec01: Exactly.

Also, the LX's lower compression is good for a turbo. I'de get a turbo sooner than I would get an EX head. Although you have the money (or so it seems), so if you want VTEC go for it. You'll need a complete head off of an EX and an EX's ECU and an EX's oil pan. They have a different oil pan (don't know why you'de need it, but just pointing out differences).

I wonder what the C/R would be with the VTEC head on the D17A1 block. What head gasket would you use? Where would the VTEC solinoid get its oil pressure from? Does the LX have a viechle speed sensor? and knock sensor? You would need the EX ECU as well. Not worth the 12 hp in my eyes. Spend that money on a I/H/E, and you will get the same results.

It could possibly be worth it if you wanted to go the naturally aspirated route and not the forced induction one. I am not planning on doing this personally. I do not have the money in the first place.

who the hell knows... but yeah... look at it this way... with this mod you know exactly how my HP you'll gain. compair LX vs. EX... hmm what? 12 HP? WOW LOOK OUT HERE COME THOSE HUGE POWER GAINS!!!!!! now... if you really wanna go this way... a VTEC control and headers and all that stuff might give you some power... but TOTALY not with it

Grey: EX has a bigger oil pan because of the VTEC. It's like 4.5 quarts to 4 quarts. I guess for better lubrication of the shaft.
