'04 DX Exhaust System to EX

Yo, I own a 04 Civic VP coupe. I am looking to upgrade my exaust system but sadly I cannot find any catbacks, headers, or catalytic converters for my trim. I find a shitload for the EXs, but none for the DX or VP which is technically what I have. I was talking to this guy at the local gearhead hangout where I live who owns a 02 Civic EX that told me I could grab a exhaust manifold (header) and a cat off of an 04 EX and then just hook up an EX catback to it, and it would all work on my DX. My first question to all the members of this site who know more than I is: WILL THAT ACTUALLY WORK?

Because there arent any crashed '04s just chillin at any junkyards I can't exactly just go get me an EX exhaust manifold and cat. I looked up prices from Honda and it came out to be like $550 for the EX catalytic converter and $85 for the EX header setup. Simply put, I'm a broke mother f-cker, so... I checked out ebay and I saw they had EX "Test Pipes" or "Resonaters" or whatever which is for off road uses only but who gives a ****, right? Those only run 50 to 100 bucks. Yay. I've also seen EX headers.

So what I'm thinking is, I can buy an EX Header, an EX Test Pipe, and somekind of EX Catback, and put them all together to work on my DX/VP. However, I don't know if thats ALL I need. Just the EX aftermarket header, the EX test pipe, and an EX aftermarket cat back. That is the second question Im asking you wise 7th Gen guys before I drop my hard earned doe on all of it: Is that all I need to put an EX exhaust system on my DX/VP?

Thank you so much for your input, I will greatly appreciate it. Also, sorry in advance if there is already a thread about this somewhere, please direct me to it. Thanks.

Again, you could buy a Kamikaze header OR buy any EX header with an EX catback and it fits, I have on my DX, HP Racing Shorty Header with its downpipe and for the cat-back, HP Racing J-spec. :edit: you wont hear of me till' Friday cause I'm going to my apartment to begin the University and I dont have internet

Kamikaze header huh? Where can I find one of those? And I thought the reason that EX catbacks won't fit on DXs is because they don't connect to the cat. I looked under my car today, which is completely stock other than the muffler, and I couldnt find the catalytic converter. It looked like I had straight pipes. I believe the header on the DX connects directly to the cat then its just piping all the way to the muffler. Is that correct? Also do you (or anyone really) know if that setup I explained of EX header -> EX test pipe -> EX catback would work? Thanks.

the only thing you might potentially have to do is extend the wires for your secondary o2 sensor..that is if you dont run a sim.

Another potential you might have to do is switch your front sway bar - but I believe your car should be fine. I state this as I know I had to.

But the process is doable. Probably is cheaper if you want to change *everything* on your car by going this route rather than sticking with DX/LX set-up.

The only option on the header section for the DX/LX is Kamikaze header - http://www.kamikazeperformance.com/s...hop/index.html (Though you will probably still need to extend some wiring (or get a MIL elimination www.bigjoshracing.com ))

As for a full cat-back exhaust, I believe Magnaflow's application for the DX/LX is the only one but I might be wrong there.
