Hmm I think it depends on the custom piping size and if you have a resonator in the piping. Even catbacks sound kinda crappy sometimes. But I dont know too many that sound good on a four banger though.

ive bought 3 mufflers from ebay 1 for my old accord it was cheap and it sounded nice.
i bought 2 for my civic cuz i broke the first one on a driveway(tip hit the ground and bent then fell off). the new on i have is fine. it is the same thing as a brand name but without the name badge on it. i just cant bring myself to spend that much money on aluminum tubing so i buy a knock off muffler and get a muffler shop to put in new piping.

the mufflers sound just liek any other one i mean its just a piece of round metal. and with just a muffler instead of a full exhaust system hes better off that way. im rocking a full custom exhaust and an ebay muffler right now. sounds good and looks nice.

Ditto... I got a 5Zigen fireball knockoff and damn does it sound good..... Nice deep tone. Sounds better than a few name brand exhausts I've heard some racers around here sporting.

That’s true too.... I guess I can't judge on this one because I have never bought E-bay brand on anything (not dissing). I just thought the quality of the product would have played a factor too (welds, fit, etc.)... That’s what I was thinking about not just HP gains. Because we all know we won't get an HP gains unless turbo or swap.

I bought a Skunk2 full cat-back for $350 from E Bay and it's the best sounding exhaust i've ever heard on a 7th gen....well until i put the header plus cat delete on now its just a friggin monster!
I got a BOMZ muffler off ebay, 25 bucks all together. It's not loud at all but you can definitely hear it. I felt a small difference in accel but now I dont notice it. A muffler alone is not significant enough to know a difference anyway. I bought it because it has a 4.5 inch tip and it looks nice. Just something better than the stock inch tip you know. As for a catback my friend got a knockoff Holley catback for his eclipse for 240 and it is loud as the ****. I can hear him 5 blocks away. So, you never know. But it all does the same ****, so why waste an extra 2 - 3 hundred bucks you know. Ebay comes through.

I always wondered how a knockoff would sound like. Its not all that bad. But do they rattle? And how much does it cost to have a shop to put it on, just the muffler. I think I can steal one from my gf's basement, should bring it to CarX and weld that sucker up.
