Exclamation Getting Ready to do an Auto to Manual Conversion

Ok. I have made the decision to go manual SO, I need all the parts that are going to be needed with this mod. I also would like your suggestions on all parts, brands, etc. (clutch, flywheel, shortshifter, etc.). Also, where to get these parts, best prices, things like that. Money is not an object as someone else with major $$ is going to pay for it.

I know the subject has been covered, but the info that I want is not all in there, and I would like everyone's opinion. Plus, I want to give my shop some idea of where to start without taking 2 months to finish it.

Oh!! Also, if my benifactor is feeling generous, I might be able to get my internals done at the same time. So, I need recommendations on internals also (pistons, cam, etc.). I am running 7.5psi on stock internals now, I want to run 12 after all is said and done.

crowers set of D17 products has been said to be solid and high quality.

as for manual conversion, it looks like a revo short shifter is good with some new bushings? I am just trying to remember off hand cause I only have an auto.

If you have the benefit of doing so, get a wrecked civic, 5 spd, you then should have all the parts you need, and Cheap.

Finding just a D17 5spd. tranny might be tough, you might have more luck finding an entire tranny + block, which would be good as you'd have the extra parts laying around. D17 assemblies are pretty cheap too, you're talking minimal price, sub-$1000, hell, I've seen them go for sub-$500, look around.

I will have the shop check that out. Will i need new motor mounts? I think I might need to get a better head gasket also? Any suggestions? Need Clutch upgrade suggestions too.

imo its a waste to spend that much money on just a tranny swap when you can almost get a K series longblock and do your manual swap at the same time

I thought of that, but I already invested major $$ in boosting the D17. I would have to spend even more to boost the K20

if you're not worried about $ I would do a k20a2 swap with an lsd 6speed tranny. But you might have to consider giving up boost 11:1 compression is a lot to start with 6lb. of boost would be equvilant of 13 on other cars, at least in terms of stress on the motor.

If u want a manual swap done, i just recommend trading the car in for a car that is manual swap. If anything, if u want to do a manual swap just do a K-series swap.

I have a manual gauge cluster i will sell you for 110 shipped...has 55,xxx miles on it. PM me if u are interested. If you get a engine with manual tranny it can run about 700-1000 bucks. Better off spending little more and get a K20A3 motor.

im gonna do the same thing, but yea i know convertion aint worth it without a swap, but to me, $$ is a problem, but when i do do it, is their a downfall, cuz some ppl tell me that when u do a 5spd convtn, that theirs gonna be a lot of problems later and such and such, but i plan to do that, than save up again for turbo, cuz i was gonna boost my auto, but naw, i know if i wouldve i woulve wanted to do 5spd after, so doing the 5spd first makes more sense, so i need to find a 7thgen wrecked civic, or can it be from older years? i really want to get a cheap deal on this convtn, any1 around the LA area that can help me out on this? i will really appreciate it

you could actually make a lil money if you sale your automatic civic(the whole car) and buy a civic 5sp(the whole car).

who said you had to use a dealer. You can sale an auto for 500-2000 more than a standard on the public market.
