DIY: Seatbelt Beep Removal on 04 Vics

Ok, Ill start with saying that if you want to wear your seatbelt then wear it and dont b!tch, If you dont want to wear it then listen up. Also I live like right down the street (just a tad more than walking distance) from a gas station and i dont feal like buckling up just to drive less than 1/4 mile it got old. So heres what i did:

Step one locate the gray/white plug under your seat NOT THE YELLOW and pull it out of the socket like so (sorry about the blurry pic but you get the picture):

Step two reset you computer by unplugging your battery. Yes it sucks cause you have to reset all of your radio stations, but yeah its worth it to me anyways.

Step three drive more catiously lol jk. This was dedicated to hustlelikem0fo.

Fianlly a straight answer. Thank you very much.

Don't even bother replying with BS (not BS literally but the "flaming) about seatbelts because we heard it all.... we know. No one is asking for your 5 cents here.

Thanks for the DIY, I'll get on this tommorow.

Well i wouldnt know if its for the other models, because i have an 04 thats why i made the thread (DIY seatbelt beep remover for 04 Vics) It could be the same for all models 01 to 05, worth a shot all you have to do is look under your seat and match it with my fuzzy @$$ picture lol

i hate that beeping and i got an 02. i guess this won't work then. the only wires under the seat are for the seatbelt bomb explosive and the airbags.

yeah, ah no...simply disconnecting our batteries wont work for us, luckily theres a DIY for the reset of the SRS light.

What was the reason for removal of his seatbelts again??

Oh man I've been wanting to disconnect that crap since I got the car. I live in a condo complex with a shopping mall right next to me and hate having to put the damn seatbelt on just to go there. I don't even hit any major roads just a few meters and i'm in the parking lot. It's a large area so that's why I drive sometimes. Thanks for the tip and I'll be checking it out this weekend.

Just so everybody is warned. Doing this will prevent the airbag going off in lower speed crashes. The SRS assumes you're wearing your seatbelt and increase the crash severity threshold before deploying the airbags. It would deploy at a lower threshold if the sensor was functioning and determined that you weren't wearing a seatbelt.

thats actually great news. if the air bag doesnt deploy at lower speeds means the resale value of the car wont get shot down really bad after a small accident... once airbag deployment has been reported.. good luck trying to get anything close to book value for your car.

No problem, anything i can do to help. sorry no theres not a way to do that without losing your settings. If you have to just jot the radio stations down on a sheet of paper b-4 hand if you have that many.

Arrow excellent

Awesome! I've been lookin' for this. Great help. The beeping is the most annoying thing in the world. I could understand if it did it once to say "Hey, buckle up." but it nags.

These are the features that add to the cost of a car. They're useless garbage that really isn't neccessary. My gf's great grandma bought a new 2003 (back in 2003) Mercury Grand Marquis. It has a passenger seatbelt sensor. If you set a backpack, or something heavy in your passenger seat it thinks that someone is sitting there so the car beeps at you. Yep, hold on while I buckle my backpack in. I wouldn't want it to get a concussion when I run into something.

Why are all car manufacturers (of newer/late model vehicles) doing this? Is it something mandated by NTHSA or something? I'd rather take the $400 that it probably cost Honda to implement the seatbelt sensor, and program the ECM in putting in a nicer dash cluster in my DX, or Power Locks. SOmething useful at least.

Sorry had to rant

FYI the beeping has to do with the cluster, when I replaced my 01 cluster with an 05 cluster it started beeping

Same with me... my 03 never beeped (Red Led Cluster) until i swapped it out for an 05 (Blue Led) cluster!

Btw... you don't have to disconnect the battery to reset the ecu. Pop your hood and pull out the ECU Fuse for 5 mins then plug it back in... this way you don't reset everything in your car

i dont think the 02 beeps, it beeps for the first 10 seconds or so when you start your car, but then it turns off. so its not a big problem. so this beeping sound in the 04 and 05, it keeps going until you buckle up?
