tachometer problem

I installed an aftermarket tachometer with the instructions posted in the diy section. The tach's light turned on but the rpms don't move. I conected the green cable of the tach to the plug of the blue cable by the battery. Do I have to take out the plug and conect it direct? or Is there another place that I can conect the green cable?

dont mess with the plug on the blue wire. cut it off and splice it directly to the green wire on the tac.

certain tachs can hook up directly to distributorless ignitions, all autometer tachs need the special adapter. it all depends on which tach you own
