clutch master cylinder
I have been doing some research on our clutch master cylinder. Since replaceing my clutch i noticed the engagement point is a lot lower. I found thet the rsx-s and SI clutch master cylinder can be used to replace ours. also I have been looking in to the fact the omni power now makes a replacement clutch master cylinder for the older civics. It has reduced travel and stronger pressure. After some research it looks like the older civic master cylinder will swap in to our with a few modifications like bending the clutch line a little to fit. But I have not tested this yet. I sill need to find an older civic stock clutch cylinder and test fit it to ours when I have the engine out of the car anyway. stay tuned more to come on this. This mod would really only benifit people that have changed there clutch out for a stronger one. Like a stage 2 or a 6 puck design. With the faster responce time and shorter peddle travel it would make shift faster and when replacing your shifter with a short shifter it would help get back your fast shift times. Feel free to let me know what you thin or if you have anything elso to add.

this has nothing to do with the master cylinder, it sounds like you didnt adjust your clutch when you installed it? If you have to push the pedal down farther then normal for the clutch to disengage, then your free play is out of specs and you need to adjust it. Here is the DIY for it

ok I have done that. the cluch it self engages at about 1/2 inch from the floor. The clutch tension is stronger taking more pressure from the master cylinder to disengage it. having a stronger master cylinder would make the clutch disengage and engage faster. It would not take as much pressure to dissengage the clutch therefor making the disengagement and engagement higher on the peddle stroke.

how much pedal freeplap do you have right now? When you push on the clutch, how muc freeplay would you say there is untill you start feeling resistance?

about 3/4 travel before disengagement. and about 1/2 an inch from the floor for engagement. I bled the clutch 2 times cause i thought that might be the problem but no. the master cyl is just not strong enough. freeplay is only about 1/2 inch from the stop at the top of the peddel befor resistance.

ok i went out and found the adjustment bolt you spoke of and adjusted it. no change. there is less free travle from the top of the clutch to resistance but the engagement point and dissengagment point did not change. The clutch master cylinder is just not strong enough to dissengage the cluch. well not high enough anyway. it takes all the pressure it can produce to disengage it. If there was a stronger one then it would work just like stock. I have a 270tq/lbs cluch in right now and was going to move up to a higher one but this problem may stop me. Or at least slow me down. I want the 320tq/lbs cluch. all the new engine work will push me over my 270tq mark.
