Hks Sld

it's been 2 years since i started tring to get rid of that pesky speed limmiter.
i've tried cutting wires, tricking sensors, buying products, nothing works. i purchased an APEX'i RSM, because it was supposta alevate this pest. no such luck. what a waste if $100. i posted a thread on this, but no one replied. http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/sh...&highlight=rsm So i came across this product; HKS SLD. has anyone installed this product? does it work? i don't want to waste another $100 on useless electronics. i'm not saying the RSM is useless, but the only reason i bought it is to kill that speed killer.....anyone use the HKS SLD with sucsess??!!??
thanks.................................

If your car won't go over 180km/h its either that you're hitting the rev limiter or your car simply doesn't have enough power to do so. Search for threads, several people have broken 180km/h, myself included.
uh not on my car....there's a speed limiter at 112, it cuts the fuel/accel off, my car doesnt top out there

I believe a member on her called hksusa about that product, and they told him that they have no idea if it will work on the 7thgen. so you'd be risking another chance by buying this.

this is how mine is too. at 180km it jerks and drops in accelleration about 5mph before it kicks back on. it seems that some have speed limmiter, and some do not....

this has been covered many many times, all civic have a limiter, most autos are at 112, i think it's different on an ex, up to 125 i think, 5 speed are all n the 120s range...as far as i know, i have an auto, so i dont care about 5 speeds enough to look into the limiter on those.

i have alot of power at 180km. it pulls right up to that point. it's just entered the "power band" it you want to call it that. i know 4 strokes don't have a power band. peak torque starts at 4100 rpm, and drops at 5200...according to my dyno print out. i am hitting 112mph (180km) at arround 4250, so in theroy i have good power to about 135 mph. rev limmit doesn't kick untill 7200 anyways. maybe if i didn't have 5th gear i'd limmit out, but i do.....i've got all the wiring diagrams for my civic. the only thing i can figure is there is a wire labeled "VSS out" that is not on the em3. but the RSM is tapped in where that goes into the ECM, so it should cancel the signal. if the SLD tapps in here, it won't make a difference. it will act just like the RSM.

uh... no. if YOU research it (RSM) you'll find that it DOES modify the speed limmiter. you can program the limmiter to limmit the speed at a range of 10km-200km, at 10km increments. or you can turn the limmiter off. that is the only reason i bought it. i've even tried to set it to 200km, but it still limmits at 180km. it works on ALL cars except for the 7th gen civic according to APEX'i......IN YOUR FACE!!

5 speed-----112 limmit. i think it depends on when and where your car was assembled....anyway, i didn't want to fight over specs., i just wanted to know if anyone had used a HKS SLD, and if it worked....that's it.

why do ask questions? j/k i do alot of racing. there is a track near by that has a straight-away that's almost 2 miles long, then has a gradual curve followed by another straight-away. i've got some friends with some pretty old cars, 60's 70's 80's early 90's. i always tell them what peices of crap they have; but when we race, i keep up just fine untill we get near the straights. my limmiter starts kicking even before straights. then i just get left behind and everyone makes fun of my civic. i just tell them, "wait till i get rid of this limmiter." but i've been telling them that for 3 years now....they're not even scared anymone...

wtf? well it doesn't really matter to me since at 200km/h i'm topping out at 7000rpm's, so unless i do internal work, i can't go any faster

Thats crazy, I had a 2003 Civic Si (Canadian Si, to the rest of the world an EX), same D17 as all of you, -automatic-, top speed on a regular road 185km/h or so, with no sudden rev drop, just equilibrium (it never made it to the limiter) between air resistance and engine output, the car just couldn't -go- any faster w. the A/T gearing. My car -has- gone over 200km/h, but that -was- at sea level and -was- with a tail wind, there were other people in the car w. me, so it wasn't a desert-induced hallucination if thats what you're thinking

I've never heard of a 'speed limiter' on the 7th gen only a rev limiter. Maybe I'm missing something.

I've got a 5 speed and I've gone to 117 a couple times... at which speed it cuts off off the fuel.
Done it a couple times so I'm pretty sure it's around the 117's...

For you all saying that you've gone like 130 and such, you most likley haven't, since our speedometers are HIGHLY unacturate at those high speeds (even more so if you have differn't sizes rims/tires than stock). Also the HKS SLD does not work for our car, a member tried it, called HKS usa who for normal reasons can't provide support, and it didn't work. Don't bother buying it, end of story. And for the rest of you, don't turn this thread into a speed limiter fight thread, there are plenty of those around for you to ***** up.
