What kind of OBDII scanner?

I imagine that's what is compatible with a 98 civic, but I'm wondering what inexpensive scanner is better or best out there. I need it for a check engine light diagnostic.

Any advice would be appreciated,

basically any OBD 2 scanner will work. there are ones out there that just read coes and ones that read and erase codes, then ones that read, erase, and check most sensors info on the car. But my outlook on it is unless you are working in a shop or checking trouble codes on a daily basis, dont buy one. If you do, it will probably sit in a box most of its life.

Which is exactly why I went to autozone and rented one. They charged me 180 dollars, but I get the complete amout back when I return it.
