99 SI -Main Shaft bearing - transmission
Main Shaft Bearing - makes a grinding noise when driving
Has any one else here ever had this problem -My friend has had to replace this 2 times and needs to be replaced again
What could cause this - or what to do to prevent this from happening again

Bearings wont make a grinding noise, they will whine. Your problem lies elsewhere. Does it happen in all gears or only one? If it is every gear, then you need fluid, if it is only one gear, then your syncronizers are worn or the gear in that drive is worn.
