There is SOHC and then there is DOHC two different motors. SOHC has a 75mm bore and DOHC has a 81mm, 86mm, or a 88mm bore (depending on what kind of motor) that alone is why you can't.

you could probably but a b-series head on it. first pull the block and have the rear oil return hole plugged and you would have to get new head bolt placement. then you would have to hook up a distributer and run all b-series wires. then you would have to change your dash cluster to a b-series cluster to run from the obd-1 ecu. and probably some other odds and end stuff. do able yes. cost efficient no. looking at probably around $4,000 usd for it. and very little power gains and probably 100 codes.
This has been asked on Honda-Tech a million times and the answer's NO, sorry to say.
Some guys have tried, but the head bolts, oil passages, coolant passages, dowels, etc. all don't come even close to lining up. Not to mention the other machining to match combustion chambers, the electrical problems (the heads use different sensors), and the probability of finding a machine shop that has enough money to throw away to attempt this. It may be possible but it'd be excessively expensive and you'd be pioneering the first one. You're still stuck with a shitty D-series bottom end, anyway.
I was fairly sure the SOHC ZC and DOHC ZC were two completely different motors and the heads weren't interchangable. I could be wrong...

Nahh it can be done.. You just have to go to a machien shop, spend about 8 grand, have them custom fabrocate you a new head, and wamb bamb slam you got it! or do and engine swap. thats about it though. either way your looking at about 8 grand.
