Rear Seat Latch Relocation
Rear Seat Latch Relocation
Alright so I'm doing a new audio setup in my trunk. The plan is to have everything pointing toward the back of my car with the sub in the middle and one amp on each side of it(all of this being glassed into one big piece). the space behind there and the rear seat I want open so I can have all the wires run in there without them seen. But the problem is that with a setup like that, there is no way for me to open the rear seat latches in the trunk.
So does anyone have any thoughts on how to move the latch where I can open my rear seats from either the inside of my car, or in the trunk?

You can recline the seats forward from inside the car. Look at the top of your rear deck, you'll see a keyhole. Put your key in it and turn it both clockwise and counterclockwise, it'll unlatch both seats.
yeah that would except I took the keyhole out of my rear deck when I did my sound deadening.http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=207203
I am by no means an expert, but you could put some sort of lever through the top of your rear deck so that it will pull those tabs out.
Also, considering that there are 2 tabs in the trunk that you pull to lower the seat, another idea would be to run a wire through the latch for the child protector seat (or what ever they are called) and put a handle on that so that you can pull it from the back seat.
My last idea would be to disconnect the latch assembly attached to the rear deck or to remove the latch attached to the seat (to remove it, you would probably have to cut it) and make your own latch. All you would need is something that would keep your seats from falling. A hook or latch might work. You could make one that looks fancy if u want to also.
Good luck!
