Seat Belt Chime

I don't see any article on how to keep the chime from coming on while you drive since I hardly ever wear a seatbeat heh.I have a 05 Civic and this is driving me nuts while driving the down the road..I know I can probably just unplug the harness to the seatbelt. But I'm gonna get some info before I do it, depending on if it's tied up with the SRS.I don't want to **** anything up being it's a week old.later

Ummm, kinda. It just seemed to me like you came here expecting to find something and you didn't. All the articles/DIYs on the site are here because members of this forum but in their work to figure something out and spent the time writing it up and taking pictures so that others can have something to go off of when they do their own installs/mods. So, if you understand where I'm coming from, cool. If you don't and your gonna be angry about something so insignificant, all I can say is, it must suck to be you.

To tell you the truth, I just looked around to try and help your situation, but couldn't find anything. I'm gonna say try looking for the speaker that may be plugged into the fuse panel under the streering column (it is on a Chevy). Other than that, I don't have much to offer, just listen around for it, if you find it you can just unplug it and that way won't have to worry about the SRS system not working.

Just get a credit card size peice of plastic, cut it to the form of the selt belt and slide it in the slot. Quick and easy. The easier thing to do is to just buckle the belt though IMO

I'm pretty sure since the car has tensioners linked to the SRS, modifying it would be a bad idea.

Why don't you wear it? Just curious.

The seatbelt sensor is tied to the SRS system. If it detects a seatbelt, it increases the deceleration (impact strength) threshold before the airbag deploys. Also if it detects a seatbelt when the SRS is activated, it fires the seatbelt pretensioner on the active seatbelt buckle(s).

I should add that I don't personally care for people who get injured and/or killed when they don't wear their seatbelt. However, I do care because I'm selfish and cheap. People who don't wear their seatbelt will inevitably suffer severe injuries or death when they are involved in collisions. That drives up my insurance rate due to these preventable claims.

i dont think the credit card thing will work cause the clip on the seat belt buckle is made of metal so it prolly complets a ground when u plug ur selt belt in so the plastic card will most likely wont work

listen....if its botherig you that bad, just search junkyards till you find a civic that had the airbags deployed. the seatbelts will be useless to them if its deployed. then just go and cut off the male end of the seatbelt from the belt with a razor and plug it into your seatbelts socket. thats what i did, cost me $5. works perectly

Why go through that much trouble? Just put on your seatbelt; is it really that hard? Does it make you 'not cool' or something? I've never understood the reasoning behind not wearing a seatbelt

the seat belt thing is connected into the ecu of the car and when it reads ur driving without the belt on it starts recording onto the car's blackbox...so if u get hurt and want to sue honda (im pretty sure the blackbox is only on accord+ cars) they're gonna check the ecu of the car and see what happened...so the moral of the story is (*cough* unplug the battery for 15 seconds before u take it into the dealership *cough* ) wear ur seatbelt

^^^ well said...just wear the damn thing, it will take longer to go to a junkyard and do all that **** then it would to just put ur seatbelt on everytime you drive some where. Junkyard trip, to find a seat belt...6 hours, Putting ur seatbelt on everytime u drive for a year, 20 minutes...just use some common sense and wear the damn seatbelt

I have just thought of this possibility. You may want to disable the chime if you're too obese to fit the seatbelt. Honda doesn't provide seatbelt extenders. So I guess the chime will continually go off if you can't buckle around your big gut. So the moral of the story is if you're too fat to fit in a Honda and the chime bugs you, go buy a big American SUV to cart your fat butt around.
