60/40 bench removal
60/40 bench removal
Hey, i was thinking about taking out my back bench, and i wanted to know if it comes out completely and cleanly?
the reason for this is because i was thinking about how suvs allways sound good with thier subs, but cars with subs are allways kinda muffled. so i figured if i got rid of that back bench, the whole car would basically be open air. also, i think it would allow room for some custom install creativity.
im thinking of putting the factory deck back in its place but not installing it, and then wired my alpine somewhere where the bench woudl have been. that way potential thieves just think my car is stock. *deck woudl be hidden, plus i have 20% tint*
the reason is i just got jacked not long ago. anyway what do u guys think of this?

Fold the seats down, peel the velcro up on the bottom of the carpet, unbolt the backs. When you do, you'll see the bolt that holds the bottom on, theres only 1 then just pull up.

I drove around without a back bench for a 4 days while my rear seats were being re upholstered, soundeda bit better, nothing to write home about though. Can acheive the same affect by folding down your back seats.
sorry to hear you got jacked, I have been before, next time dont leave your face plate in.
i never EVER EVER EVER no matter how much of a 3 second stop it is leave my deck in.

Keep in mind that the rear seats' foam expands and applies pressure on the rear deck and side trim panels. Without the seats, you may get increased movement/rattle from the panels.

my back seat is completely removed (as is the rest of my interior; glove compartment, seats, carpet, etc...major stereo re-do in the works)...i removed my trunk setup and system last, and there honestly wasn't a difference in having the seat removed as opposed to just having it folded down...i do recommend having the rear seats folded down though...there is major difference when the seat backs aren't muffling the bass...just my $.02...good luck!
oh yeah, i have a sedan, and the rear seat was easy as hell to remove...remove the bottom part, and you should be able to see what you need to do to get the backs out...might require a little help with the pushing and pulling, but they're not too hard...
