Question about tachometer

I have a 2004 civic VP. It doesn't have tachometer. A friend said to me that if I put an EX cluster (has a tach), it will work. Just plug it and my problem is solved. Is that true?

Ok . Thanks for the info. If someone have an 2004 EX cluster for sell please post here.
I have other question. I was searching for a DC sport header but I think they do headers for EX only because I didn't find a header for LX/DX. If I'm wrong please tell me. If it's true I want to know if the Ex header fits the D17A1 engine (LX/DX), or who make headers for LX/DX?
