Lx to Ex header/cat conversion
Ok.. I know this has to be somewhere on the site but I've searched over and over again and cannot find anything about it. I have an Lx and i want to re-locate the cat so that i can put on a cat-back exhaust that is made for Ex's. Anyone have a link to some info or a DIY on the site?

Thanks guys...i'll probably go with the Tanabe thing, but do you think i should just get a custom exhaust built instead of paying over 600 for the Tanabe adapter and then the Exmag?
you should convert it to the ex exhaust cause your engine will "breathe" better. the cat on the lx is really restrictive and the pipe is soooo small. and you could spend less than $600 doing it too....ebay it.....lol. a custom full exhaust will be really expensive, but a cat-back wouldn't be too bad. but if you just do a cat-back, you really aren't helping much cause of the header and cat suck.

But will the EX header bolt directly up to the lx head? I seem to recall reading somewhere you had to modify the header to some extent for it to install properly. I have been contemplating this swap myself for a while.
It will bolt up, the only big difference in LX is not VTEC. There are other differences too but I'm not going to get into those. You'll probably have some trouble with the exhaust hangers though. You'll have to take it to the shop to get it all put on and positioned properly, and I'm not sure about the O2 sensor wire length too.
the EX has two sensors also. All OBD-II engines have two O2 sensors. Eternalblue_Vic is right. was that really nessesary lkm. I have my turbo kit and the "cheap stuff" so what's up now. As soon as my oil pan gets here, the turbo is going on. you have to start somewhere, and the "cheap stuff" is the best place. unless you have a **** load of money to blow.

lkm,
I'm f-in 18 and have a part time job... where the hell am i supposed to get an endless supply of money? If i was rich i wouldn't own a civic dumb azz.
Anyways... back to the main subject... everyone agrees that the whole ex switch is far more superior to the tanabe adapter?? I'm gonna need the ex header, downpipe, and cat from an ex (or FOR an ex if you go aftermarket) and then some other minor stuff? And THEN an exhaust system.. haha the spending never stops!!!

What was said here and in other threads, you will need the Exhaust Manifold, Mid-pipe/Cat, and either the cat Back exhaust from the stock Ex or buy an aftermarket cat back exhaust. And you will probably have to let an exhaust shop install most of it for you as the mounting points for an ex exhaust and the dx/lx are not the same.
