whats up guys.... well a couple weeks ago i posted my settings for my VAFC II , i had changed the Correction. but left the Unmatched along...so anyway. i was readying the owners manual today and some what grasped the concept that the Unmatched was actually the fuel control. anyway. i set it to +1% from HI<<LO and -1% from Lo>>HI .. and i got to thinkin."im i doin thin right" well. anyway i would like to see your guys's settings (complete settings) so i can try them out and see if i can make a good judgment call wether or not its increasing h/p or not.

The vtec is not meant to be engaged at a set rpm. A variety of factors (including wot) are required for activation. I would leave that part stock. Normally the car just needs wide high vtec.
Here's mine anyway (dyno tuned)
MODS:
-NGK Iridium Spark Plugs
-Ground Wire Upgrade
-Sun Hyper Voltage System
-Apexi VAFC-II
-Optima Yellow Battery
-Ceramic Header
-DH Racing Ported Head Work
-B+M Transmission cooler
-Thermal Rear Section Exhaust
-Napa Gold Air Filter
VAFCII tuning numbers: They only tuned the wide throttle, because the others were already pretty close. I have an auto, and they ended up using 2nd gear because 3rd didn't work well.
Also, they set the vtec to engage at 2800rpms, but I put it back to stock. I don't know exactly how the vtec works, but someone said you need 100% throttle to activate it and turning it on too low is bad (not enough oil pressure).
Wide High Vtec

I set it back to stock tho. Don't want to risk damage to the system by fooling with that. Those numbers are just what they put in at the dyno. Your a/f will prolly also be different. You may end up taking away fuel since our cars run rich at 4500 rpms and above. Below it runs lean.

Re: VAFC-II Whats your Tunning??
as for the load sensing engagement gearbox spoke about, there are 3 factors that are supposed to trigger changeover. im not sure if the d17 has load sensing engagement because its an e vtec. i cant get it to work with mine but im still running an lx ecu with a d17a2. anyway, vtec engages on throttle position, manifold pressure, and rpm. load sensing engagement works on the parameters you set based on what changes need to occur in 2 tenths of a second, or 0.2 seconds. i think stock setting requires you to go from 0-100% throttle in 0.2 seconds above the required rpm setting to engage load sensing engagement. there is a manifold pressure setting that can be used for load sensing engagemt, but im not sure what the stock pressure is that needs to be reached in 0.2 seconds for it to occur. as for fuel correction, you only need to adjust it if you change the rpm setting to anything other than stock. if you make hi cam engage earlier than stock, you need to add fuel for the extra rpm on hi cam because the ecu will still think its on lo cam and youll lean out. if you set it higher than stock, you need to take away fuel from those rpms to prevent running too rich and bogging. you only need to adjust fuel for those occassions and at wot to get your afr right because the ecu will adjust narrow throttle fuel on its own. this shouldnt take more than 2 pulls on a dyno to get right if the tuner is capable of reading a wideband. very cheap on dyno time. i only charge the minimun which is an hour to tune a vafc2 on a d17. it doesnt work well to use other peoples settings due to different mods, air temp, dyno type, and what not. over the last few months weve had tons of blown motors in the shop because of people runnin a basemap or someone else tune on turbo cars. i hope this helps a little.

Re: VAFC-II Whats your Tunning??
I might add if you're not running rich below 3400 rpms I would not lean out your fuel. I've found that the ecu will actually retard the timing a bit when you pull fuel and advance timing when you add (hence the problem with piggy backs when you turbo). The advanced timing will give you more tq especially down low and you should def feel it. I'm running emanage with my cam and although its not a vafc II they sort of work the same. Good luck.

not sure what i have my numbers set to but im running a vafc II, crower stage one cam, dc sports header, apexi n1 full cat back, and aem v2 intake and it runs liek a champ (in the light weight class ), ill get my numbers when i get my car back and post them

Re: VAFC-II Whats your Tunning??
as soon as we get our dyno moved from our other building to our new one im going to do a few pulls and make a few changes. i think im getting a bit rich in vtec. trying to tune a d17a2 on an lx ecu with a vafc2 is throwing my afr off. i might see if i can find an ex ecu.
