Did i mess up my Ground Wire DIY
Did i mess up my Ground Wire DIY
Sorry, dont mean to double post since i already put this in vehicle problems but i thought this would be the better place for it.
Anyways, since i did this upgrade in my GFs car the thing that keeps you from shifting into gear without having the brake depressed keeps clicking back and forth on its own and its killing the battery.
I did from negative terminal to stock point on the body, from that to the tranny from there to both the valve cover and Throttle body. What gives?
I was wondering if i did something wrong with the grounding upgrade to make this happen.
*EDIT* sorry to have to do it this way but here are the pics to the part in the shifter that is messing up. It wouldnt let me post the same pics again in this forum. Link

I'm not sure if you're grounding has anything to do with the gear shifting unless you've done something to limit the movement of the shift cables, which doesn't apprear to be the case.
Shouldn't you ground all those points to a common ground? Not in series to eack other. The idea of a common ground is to provide a common ground referance for your computer, not to confuse it by linking them a together. You may want to revamp your custom ground system. If you want I can get Bridge_Msport to do one up for you.

Thanks for the replies but i just found out the answer. I"M A DUMBASS!!! lol the cable from the body to the tranny had a loose connection.
I'm grateful that you tried to help and i am not trying to start a fight but i dont think that could have caused any issues. From the factory EVERYTHING is grounded at different points. I mean some spots have 3 or 4 things grounded at one bolt but for the most part it isnt going to matter. Valve cover grounded to above radiator. TB grounded with a small wire somewhere in the engine bay. tranny grounded to the body, etc...
But i do appreciate the effort.

I grounded mine in series and it's fine.
Battery - Stock Ground
Battery - Tranny
Tranny- Firewall
Firewall - Throttle body
Throttle body - drivers side chassis
I also replaced the crappy ground wire from the Rad support to the Engine.
Anyways, I don't understand why it's disabling your g/f's shift lock.... are any of the ground wires hitting/interfering with anything?
