Well Ive seen pics here of members who change their automatic plate for a leather boot so it sorta looks like a stick. I called honda and the moron at parts told me that the boot was an aftermarket part.

Anyone got a part number so I can get this from Honda?

Also how easy is it to change? I got a 2001 LX

you only need 1 part from the center console from manual its like 30bucks from honda
partnumber 4 in the pic console piece . if you take out the center console
and then take out the plastic shift assembly(not sure of exact name, part with p,r,n,d on it and key lock) so that its just the gear shift. all you have to do is put the shift boot over it w/ aftermarket shiftknob and thats it. the silver piece comes out and you can tuck the boot in it.

do I have to use an aftermarket shift ****? Or can I be cheap and use the honda one? Do I need a clip to attach an after market shifter?

you can use the honda factory one...
no you shouldnt need any clips.

sorry if "someone else started a thread after me" and I just so happend to post in this one.
I guess maybe you migt not have seen other forums on this site where if there are 2 threads on the same thing, the topic starter gets flamed and then it gets locked and so on. I thought I was one of nicer members..... but you know jumping to conclusions and being well, aggressive isnt being too nice there buddy.
