Remove Resonator ?

Hi everybody, was thinking of removing the resonator on my 7th Gen and replacing it with just an aluminium flexible pipe similar to those used in air con ducts. The aluminium pipe will connect the airbox which houses the airfilter and the final stock pipe which points to the side of the car body. Anyone done this or has anyone removed the resonator and the last few inches of piping, replacing it with flexible piping altogether ? Would my low end suffer as a result ? What would the gains be as a result of such a mod ? What's would the induction noise level be like?

Will do nothing for your car except make it loud...if you are strapped on cash, you would be better off getting a K and N air drop in box air filter...stock setup is best for torque...the K and N will give you a little more "umph"...

I removed the whole resonator box before I bought my e-bay intake... Filter box and intake feel the same power wise, lose a little low end, gain a little mid/top end. You could run a flex pipe over to the fender, that would probably help it suck some cooler air.. Gains are pretty much negligable on the D series untill you get into major engine/forced induction. Doing intake/exhaust just increases driveability some and makes the car sound better.

Stock filter box makes very deep intake noises at idle and through the lower RPM but no more sound than you're used to a higher RPM. A chunk of aluminim pipe with a cone filter on the end of it provides the best sound IMO.

It makes the car perform horribly, and not just because there's more hot air near the intake. Also sounds VERY loud like a broken exhaust.
