geez four replies and I'm no closer to getting an answer than before I posted. Lemme ask my question again.....how does stalling negatively affect engine/clutch/drivetrain? What exactly happens and how does it affect components?

I don't think it does that much if taught by a good instructor.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

I've taught 3 people and my car runs great.

HyaBoosta will become famous soon enough
the only bad i can see is that when begginers learn they gas it alot and let the clutch out slow.So maybe a little burning of the clutch but not too bad.

From my dad teaching me and me teaching my brother... basically, tis better to burn tires than clutches. Too much gas and quick off the clutch is better, let the finesse come later, but you're better off getting it moving. If it stalls, basically you run a shockwave back through everything because there's not enough torque to get the transmission going... so the engine stops because the transmission won't move. It shouldn't be enough to trash the car if done a few times. I say just let them take a shot at it, if it doesn't look promising after 3 or 4 attempts, give some more instruction by demonstration, then let them try it again. After 3 or 4 if there's still no improvement, then stop for then and try again at another time if they seem dilgent about learning it. It does no good to get someone frustrated over it, but there's ways to slowly get someone to get the hang of it. One you find where the engagement point is, its pretty easy to get it going as long as you give it enough gas.

Haha that reminds me of the time my friend izmaxx was teaching me how to drive... We were near Towson University on this inclined street which was lined with many shops and pedestrians... at 3 in the afternoon.

Traffic had stopped at a light and so I looked at Isra in panic...

Me: Uh oh what do I do now
Him: Floor it : He grabs the e-brake: :releases e-brake:
Us: :Burning rubber up the street:

Man we really peeled out on that one...

But we never stalled so I guess it served its purpose.

stalling won't hurt the clutch......some slippage or holding in the clutch for extended periords of time like at redlights wears out the clutch plates.
