'00 oil filter size in '01 civic

'00 oil filter size in '01 civic
Hello,
The Fram catalogue number for '01 civic is 7317 but this filter looks way smaller than the big blue one my Honda dealer put in after. I noticed that the '00 civic filter size (Fram 3593A) looks like the same size as the one my Honda dealer installed.
I'd like to know if it safe to use the Fram '00 oil filter in my '01 civic? Or is there more to it than just size/gasket fitting? So should I use that small fram filter (7317) the book says to use instead? I can't find a cross-reference part number on the old Honda oil filter for the Fram ones. Thanks in advance.
