porting exhaust manifold?

As you know, I've got the DH ported head. Now I'm going to try and port match the gasket and header (it's an HP replica header I believe) to match the head ports. Anyone have tips for me, or if this will work? I've never used a dremmel before. Thanks for any info.

this is the way I did it. You just have to be a little carefull. and have compressed air handy to clean the mess.
Lay the gasket on the head, grind away and match it to the ports on the head.
(It helped me to take off the rivets on the gasket and seperate the 2 halves, so I could get inside and de burr the gasket on both sides)
de burr the gasket on both sides of both halves. and use compressed air and a q tip if needed to clean out the nasty metal shavings in the exhaust ports.
then get some contrasting spray paint and a few bolts and nuts, bolt the gasket to the header. Spray, let dry and remove. now look at the header and grind away/smooth out the painted areas. thats it. Mine has no leaks.
A paper gasket would have been much easier.

Project2k2 is on a distinguished road
Spray painting does sound off but makes sense. Are you sure that paint on the gasket would be a good idea? This might be the way I will do it. All I know is that it's gonna take a pretty good amount of time to get this all done. Bah.

I'm trying this tonight. Already bought a dremmel and have a plan I guess, so hopefully nothing bad happens.

when you are grinding away at the gasket, the oppisite side will get a little ridge of metal built up you need to grind the ridges down so the gasket can still seal.

Update: I got two of the ports matched on the gasket and it took forever. I needa new dremel attachment. But I did it with both halves together, and now the metal is all bent. I guess it will flatten with everything put back on the car.

Anyway, good news is I don't have to port my HP replica header! Ports are the same as the new ones I made on the gasket. I can't believe how small the stock ports were.
