2001 Civic alternator belt adjustment

It seems to be very easy.... I have already found the wing nut bolt that should be used do adjust the alternator belt. Now, my question is... Do I have to loose the alternator first, just like has to be done with the PS belt?

Thanks!

The tensioner should force it out. It wouldn't make sense to loosen it before. What is happening is; you want to make the belt tighter. If you loosen the part before tightening it, it will bring it in closer and make it even looser. What you may want to do is loosen the tensioner as much as needed, then loosen the part, push it out as much as possible, retighten it then tighten the tensioner up. That is what you should do.
