Setting the timing?

Pulling the head off my car tomorrow... Any tips on setting the crank and cam shafts to TDC? use a breaker bar? I already have the torque specs and the valve cover is off...

Thanks guys

I believe the best way is to mark everything before starting, so you can put it back the right way again.

Kinda knew that... lol..

But for rotating the crank shaft pulley... I have no clue how to do that. I can do almost anything else to an engine but I just dont grasp the timing thing well lol.

Any help would be appreciated.

VTECnique is an unknown quantity at this point
use a socket, long extension, and a breaker bar thru the drivers wheel well. you dont even have to take the tire off. just cut the wheel to the left.

Here is what I did. Maybe right or wrong it worked.

Pull the head. Turn the crankpulley untill you are TDC that is the outside pistons all the way up. Then tunr the cam gear to the top position. The came gear has a leg that says up on it. then get a buddy and about 4 flathead screw drivers and carefully pry the belt back into place. You could also set it to TDC first and mark everything and then put it back in place using the marks.

Good luck. Mine is holding good and have some good new kills.

Kills: B18 all motor Hatch, MustangGT and a Mercedes(?).

They said they couldn't get a Helms manual for my car buddy, so I COULDN'T buy one.

I did however spend $99 on the Honda Repair manual straight through the dealership. It takes a week and a half to come in though, and I don't have enough time to wait that long.
