Ok people I have been hearing noises in my gearbox for some time so with some help
we took it down, but I MUST SAY do not try a DIY on this type of project. Our 7th gen civics
gearbox don't come out as easy as we may think. The front lower sub frame has to come out while the engine is being supported by a jack. Has anyone done this before?
Lucky for me, only four bearings in my gearbox were damaged. (2 on the diff & 1 on the high gear shaft & the last one was pressed into the case)

Rep Power: 0 Mine is starting to have the same problems. First gear you can hear alot of noise that didnt use to be there. I only have about 18,000 miles on my sedan to. DOnt know if this will help but when we did the clutch on my friends teg, we used bottle jacks along with a floor jack to hold up the engine.

Rep Power: 0 2k2redcivic I think that you may have the same prob. So you may want to check that out because the gearbox could lock up on you and cause death etc. because the slugs from two of the bearings (one on the high gear shaft and especially the one that is pressed into the case) could get betwen the diff!!!!! . Those two bearings don't have a cover over the slugs. The part numbers on mine were:- sx05a87ncs30 & sc05a61. Both are NTN bearings

Rep Power: 309 The shop I talked to today told me it would be $250 just to pull the tranny out and put it back in, not including any kind of work/parts needed for the internals. Some transmission bearings can be pretty expensive. That's why I'm just swapping mine out. I should be able to do it (with experienced help) myself, just have to see.
Also the transmission place in town won't install aftermarket clutches.

Rep Power: 0 ok guys what I can say is that the bearings are standard bearings and you can get them to buy at any local shop that sells bearings. However the bearing that is on the high gear shaft, the inner circumference is 26mm (that is an unusual size). So what I did is take the shaft to a machine shop and have them make a sleeve to make up the space..... (I bought one that was 28mm inner circle)
It cost me $400 Trinidad and Tobago dollars in labor and the bearings cost me $60. TT for the two small ones and $99. for the two that is on the diff.
(the exchange rate is TT $6.29 for US$1.00)
If you do decide to DIY then it's gonna be a very educational experience.
