windshield crack

Hey, a few weeks ago while driving on the freeway, a big rock hit my windshield and made a big dent on the windshield. Recently, this weekend, the dent turned into a crack 3-5 inches long. I don't know how that happened. Could it be the heat? It has been getting warmer here. I think i should change the windshield. I'm sure the insurance will cover it.

Well in the State of Minnesota, if you have full coverage, auto glass is covered 100%. Temperature changes, hot to cold, and vice versa, will cause the crack to grow. My dad has a large crack in his windshield, and it grew a lot.

yeah, that's what I thought. How long does it take to replace the windshield?

It is the heat, the same thing happened to me a while back...depends on where you go, some places have the auto glass in stock, and it only takes a day or two to get it, but other times it could take a lot longer...my insurance totally covered the repairs...you might want to call yours before you have it done though...

when my dad's lexus had a crack that grew the whole height of the windshield. Insurance covered it. The place we went to had the glass in a day and came to our house and replaced the windshield perfectly within an hour. It was an exact match to the stock windshield.
