Redline limits

Greetings,
I think the redline limit is around 65oo for my 01 civic..
What is redline on the DOHC older engines..?and on the si model?

Just curious..

we redline at 6800.. but can go up to 7000 - 7200. i believe the redline on the dohc were at least 8.

I was under the impression that the redline was 7200rpm in our cars? I do recall hitting the rev limiter once by accident and it being above 7k.

rev limiter is exactly 7k redline is 6800

Current Si model same... (6800 redline)
DOHC on RSX-S is 8000

Oh, what I would do to extend my red-line ever so slightly...I would be able to get the full potential out of my re-grind...only thing is that it costs $$$ that I don't have...

as stated 100 times before, you will not gain power by increasing your redline, peak HP is around 6200-6300 RPM and you HP all after that

Umm.... Honda put the redline there for a reason.
Unless you remap your ECU, and do some engine work, there is no point. You'll only end up running slower times, plus hurt your engine.

its true that you will not gain any HP (peak HP IS reached around 6200-6300) by increasing the redline, but the reason for revving past the redline is so that you can reliably land in vtec when you upshift. its not nearly as helpful as keeping it in lift for celicas, but might still help. although, you do run the risk of messing up your engine, and it you want to do this in an LX or DX then you're just an idiot :P
