noticeable difference in spark plugs??

I am running the lowest borsch plugs in my civic right now. My question is is there any power difference that is noticeable in stepping up to the borsch plugs that have 2 or 4 firing arms, or the iradium plugs?

Also, does it make any difference to step up to 8mm plug wires?

The only thing you are getting out of Multiple armed plugs is longer plug life. Why? Electricty is lazy and will always take the path of least resistance, so which ever arm is closer to the electrode will be the one that the electricty will always go through. When that arm gets corroded enough to no longer be the path of least resistance then one of the other arms will become the primary arm.

we dont have plug wires, our cars have direct coil firing.

the thing you should be looking at is meterials in the plug and build quality, temp too but I'm not sure if hotter or cooler plugs will be of benifit.

plug wires?!? the plugs will give you a smoother response and fire alot better. as far as performance, not on the initial install, but after they've been int the car and create a bigger spark gap you might pick up a little...my iridium plugs were pretty expensive, denso ik20's

You will not gain HP on plugs of any kind. The only time you need better pugs is when you are running nitrous or force induction. High compression engines use iridium plugs or 4 firing arms plugs, aftermarket plug wires and independent ignition system. Because it is harder to ignite high compress air and fuel mixture. On a S2000 it’s compression ratio is 11.1.1 that high compression. We do have plug wires and yes we have direct coil firing. Our cars don’t use distributor it uses coils that are directly connected to the spark plugs. Direct coil firing improves timing and it gives out a higher out put of spark. Don’t spend all that money on fancy plugs it will not give any HP. But it might slightly improve gas mileage and emersion.

I recently put Denso iridium plugs on my car ($35 set of 4 off ebay). I did not feel any extra power, but noticed the engine runs a lot smoother. I have almost 60k on my 01. Though when I took out my old ones they were toasted. I would not put cheap plugs on my car, Our cars come stock with platinum. Why would you put anything less on your car.

Just my .02

Spark plugs are a waste of money and if someone tells you that they have felt gains from these, its all in their heads. I also bought the Denzo iridiums for $50 from Autozone a month ago. Supposedly they are to be the best but I didn't feel really any GAINS from it, maybe smoother starts like lberry said but nothing more, plus I will running nitrous so I needed to change mine and they were pretty burnt up after 25,000 miles!
