I know you don't "need" them because of the latch, but I have heard that since there so light you run the risk if it breaking the latch and flying off on the highway cause of the air trying to lift it. Is this true? If so what are some alternatives to hood pins?
I like the clean look so I don't want those goddy things on my hood. Then best ones I have seen are supermex's which are the ones with the key to unlock them. Are there anyones out there that aren't as noticeable?

i know its true that the cf hood can fly off cause it happened to a member on this site last summer. i dont know of any alternatives for the pins but it can fly off and cause major problems. I cant remember exactly who had the cf hood but its a member on this site, maybe someone else knows???

Wasn' his name Pedrito?
Anyways, the hood could also break off the hinges if you rearend someone and it could go back through the windshield and decapitate the driver. It's happened before.

as of hood pins its better to be safe than sorrie, mine flew of like a 1yr ago i didnt have the hood pins that thing flys, so i would recondmend the hood pins, but i dont have any hood pins on my current hood now.
^^ i like the regular cotter pin style over the sparcos. i plan on ordering a cf hood after i order the hayames. the one i want is from www.speedstyler.com its made by ABS Dynamics and its 425 shipped. its the vented style and has rolled edges and a H-D latch. it claims that no pins are necessary but since it also comes with hood pins as a bonus i cant complain. ill have to paint the pins black to blend wiht the hood and have the pins installed by a pro.
Now for my question:
My carbon fiber hood (VIS Oem style) is painted on the sides with only the middle section being carbon fiber. I personally dont like hood pins, do I have any other options?
Thanks

nope pretty sure there is no alternative to hood pins. maybe if u get the autoloc suicide hood and u split ur cf hood down the middle you wouldnt need hood pins. i say this because instead of having 2 hinges connected to your CF hood you have 4 hinges now. 2 on the left side and right side of the hood.

OKAY- just took the car on a trip. MY hood basically blows away. I dont have hood pins, cause i hate them, but im reconsidering my decision on getting them. Not only did the hood flex alot (could see from the drivers seat) but my friend made me pull over cause he thought it was about to break off...Said it lifted up about 2-3 inches when going 70+. Scary ****, we adjusted my latch tighter and it got a little better but not much...
This is because I didnt have hood pins right?

Hm...It was pretty crazy tho. I mean the **** was lifting up high as hell. Like other people I was traveling with, with carbon fiber hoods, had a little movement but NOTHING like mine...

My hood doesn't move a damn inch. Not even a bit. My pins have totally secured the hood.
i had my hood w/o pins and that suker jumped like crazy. i got pins now and its stays in place now. ive been up to 120 and nuffin. plz get pins dan. yes it takes away the clean look but do u want a hood flyin in ur face then flyin over ur car then possibly causin an accident to other drivers? plz get them. only 20 bucks.
