Engine Swapping
yes if ur going to swap it out with a SI or RSX engine your going to need a new trany. and im assuming the same for the Si too. but not totally sure. And yes you will defantly need a different ECU. But these things should come with the egine when you buy it. so make sure okay.

you will also need a new radiator, different hoses, hasport motor mounts
RSX Type s subframe and honda to flash your keys/immobilizer/ecu to work which is easy.
like to add new tack and while your at it new springs are needed. custom shift linkage is not needed however. Also you like to take in consideration this is a extremely difficult swap, its not as easy as lets say installing a greddy turbo. Well for you guys installing a Standford fabrications turbo. Which I soon might order when Catalyst gets the dang thing CARB cerified in california or he can garuntee it will pass smog for me if I got an aftermarket cat ex downpipe etc...
Now for the project car we have a K20a2 not mounted yet.it is installed with a greddy turbo running 7 psi at 285 Bhp. This involved significant tunning and parts from AEM, yes the engine was built to be reliable as it can be. I wanted to tell you this because it proves the potential of such an engine over the D17.

k20 will run you between 8 to 10 grand if you dont do it yourself and an H22 i really dont know about. I could go on listening the parts for you but figure giving you it straight up view of the cost.
Chearper to get a standford fabrications turbo, Im waiting for catylist to get it carb so I can do that on my own car. Our friends race engine , we havent descided which car its going in yet rofl is a k20a2 with a greddy turbo

The swap is not that hard if you know much about Hondas.
You will need a few things custom made.
K20 drop out(Motor, tranny, ECU, subframe, ect.)
02 and up SI axels(to be able to keep 4 lug)
02 and up SI radiator and hoses
Hasport mount kit
Custom Clutch lines
RSX shifter cables
RSX PS resivor and line(if PS is wanted)
custom AC lines(if AC is wanted)
Hasport wiring harness(or custom your own)
ECU reflashed with your key code
And there might be a few things I forgot. OVer all the swap is not that hard. There is a lot of info on this. Search about it. Nobottlejusttrottle and Hawk are ones that did the swap and talk about it during the process. Look there old threads about their swaps and you find tons of info on it.
I myself will be doing the swap over this summer. I have already started buying parts that are needed and will hopefully finish everything by Fall. If no one has done a DYI on it by the time I start installing mine, I'll write one up. If you are going to do the swap and decide to do it yourself and are going to buy parts one at a time(like I am) buy the motor last. K20s are getting cheaper now and in the next few months you should be able to get good deals on them.
