what is different?
about thhe 7thgeneration sohc civic how come that the engine looks the same engine but some are 1.5, 1.6 and why 1.7 what are their difference? is it the cylinder head or the engine block? or any other else? thnx!
well the reason for the .1L increase in displacement is stroke...each generation the stroke has increased giving more torque to our torqueless wannabe monsters. but all in all, the engines are basically the same, and horsepower has changed slightly(as well as disp.) to incorporate also for the added weight of civics each gen.

The engine has been CONSIDERABLY changed. Its not the same as the old D series with the exception of its general architecture. The manifolds have both been redesigned, the port spacings changed, longer stroke, different ignition system, different fuel system and many other internal changes. The only thing they really have in common is the bore diameter and the SOHC design. Other than that, just about everything changed. Thats why no D16 parts fit. Honda pretty much re-did the whole damn thing.
