RSX exhaust on a 99 dx?

i'm wondering what you guys think? is it worth it? they guy wants about $75 for the exhaust but i'm gonna try to talk him down. all i have installed is an SRI and didn't want to go to a large exhaust (like a 4" one) so i kept it stock. anyway, let me know what you guys think.

So you are wanting to buy a stock RSX exhaust from someone? What does having a SRI and not wanting a large exhaust have to do with a rsx exhaust on a 99 dx.

the RSX exhaust isn't large like the 4" exhausts that are out on the market. the engine isn't taking in an incredible amount of air so i don't need to go to something like a 4" exhaust. if i had turbo, then i'd consider going to a 4" exhaust. in general, the amount of air your engine takes in should be about the same amount going out. if its too small, then the air gets trapped and you don't get the HP. anyway, i just want to know if anyone has done something like this (place an RSX ehxaust on a Civic) and if it's worth it.

Basically, nobody who has a custom exhaust has a 4" exhaust. what I mean is the only thing that would be 4'' would be the tip of the muffler, but the size of the exhaust piping is what matters when it comes to horsepower. Basically if you want good power, try the greddy SP exhaust. It doesnt have a big tip on the muffler, and the piping is about 2.25 and it is high quality. Even if you had a turbo, you wouldnt want a 4 inch exhaust. you would want to run between 2.5'' and 3''piping. The muffler can be any size. I hope this clears up any confusion that you had. As far as the rsx exhaust, it isnt going to fit on a 99 dx, unless you have modification done. I think $75 is a reasonable price for a rsx exhaust, personally, I would sell higher. Go out and find a good exhaust system for your car that doesnt have a big muffler outlet, because that is what your concerned with.

thanks streetglower. sorry for the confusion but that's what i meant. 4" tip is not what i want and i was thinking about going to a 2.5" piping but can't find a tip smaller than 4". i'll check out the greddy SP. thanks for the....ummmm.....tip.

I was looking on the greddy site, but it doesnt say anything about a 99 dx. It has other years though. What you could do is get custon 2.25'' piping and get a SP muffler from greddy, or another muffler somewhere.

i might have found one. i can't remember what brand it was but a friend of mine has a friend that runs a small shop up north of me. at the time i didn't have the money but he was going to sell me the exhaust plus installation for about $350. it had a CF finish and an angle cut for the tip w/ silencer. looks like an APEXi so, if he's still got it, i just might buy it.

$350 seems like a good price if its the full exhaust and the installation. just make sure that they arent just installing a muffler and that its not some crap ebay-ish brand that will rust out in a month or 2

its $350 including the piping. i'll have to double check on the muffler to see if he still has it. there was a brand on it. i'm just old and can't remember what it is.
