creative sidemarker help (PICS)

Hey all, I rercently got some APC sidemarkers installed. I didn't like how they looked with the ruffled chrome, so I sanded it down to flat and painted it with chrome paint. Unfortunately, the chrome paint turns out to be shiny silver. They now look dull at night, like the taillights.

Is there anything I can buy like a sheet of chrome or something to put over it and make them shiny like the headlights? Thanks guys!

I looked and only found a silver sheet. One other idea could be to use foil, but I think that will look too home-made. I think I'm just gonna keep them silver. It does at least match the stock tails and is still bright enough. I'm just tired of fooling with stuff all the time. Hopefully in a few weeks I'll have everything else fixed. Thanks.

You could try heating-duct tape. It's shiny silver and it has an adhesive backing. Try calling Homedepo or somewhere and asking about it, its a really shiny, like chrome.

I think what your talking about is foil tape. Its like alum. foil with a sticky backing. I've seen that stuf all over, even at wall-mart in the home department with other tape like 2 way ect.

Hmmm. I couldn't find any of that. Chrome leafing sounds like an idea, but where is it?

I went again and found some ribbon, but it wasn't shiny enough. I ended up buying a sheet of paper with chrome layer on top. It came out okay, but I worry what will happen once it rains.

EDIT: I tried to seal the back with pieces of duct tape. Hope this works out...

silicone sealer will work to fill in the back and make sure it stays in place

I wish I could, but the cover has to come out to replace the bulb. I know, the markers are crap. But I have to make do and I think the tape will hold. They actually look real nice so far after the mod.

Sure. Maybe later today. They look much cleaner without the ruffles in them. You can see a cut on each side from where I pasted the two pieces of paper together, but only if you really look close.

I had to do two pieces becuase of the center hole for light.

I redid these yet again without cutting. This time I used some silicon on the back to stick it to the paint. I hope it holds okay...since the car was dirty to begin with. We'll see when it dries in 24 hrs.

Pics of silicon on the back. So far they're holding up pretty good. Looks much better now with the chrome paper.
