Windshield Crack

Today I was driving on the highway and a rock came up and cracked the windshield. It is about a quarter size from the center to the outside of the crack. Is there a national chain that takes care of this thing and can't it just be sealed? How much should I expect to pay if I don't involve my insurance company?

Um it should be free if you don't even have full coverage, just tell your insurance any trucks license plate with a big rig truck, get the time and what location you were at when this happened, you can make up any, the insurance should go after the trucks insurance which they do have for them.

This happened to me and I ended up going to some shop and fixing it for 150. I just don't ever feel comfortable going to my insurance company. I have full coverage from farmers, but I'd rather not have it go up at all, otherwise I'll be financially unstable.

Shiite! I went out this morning and the crack has extended to the middle of the driver's side. I think it may have been due to the temperature changing. The line (of the crack) is like 12 inches long! What now?

Just don't pour any ice water or anything of that sort on it if it's hot outside- same vice versa, if its cold outside, don't activate the heater. Avoid changing the temperature at all costs if you don't want it to extend infinitely

Time to get a new windshield man. Same **** happened to me earlier this year. Had a f00gin rig tossing gravel all over the place change lanes in front of me and rocks hit the window. one of them left a small chip as a result. I contacted my insurance (State Farm) and they said it was free to get filled and gave me a list of places locally to goto.

Well, the following week we had some real nasty cold **** and it iced up real bad before I could get the chip repaired. Came out to the car and the chip was now a crack halfway across the f00gin window.

My insurance, of course, would not cover the window until my deductible, and the window replacement was just under $250, my deductible was $250. So I had to pay for it.

And then to top it off, 2 weeks later, some jackass in an openbed truck had a half-full popcan fly out on the highway and it hit the window leaving a 2 nasty scuffs that I have yet to be able to polish out.

fun time.
