Yet another "paint your headlights black" question...

1) I have an 02 EX coupe, I heard you DO NOT need silicone to reseal--that our coupes have resealable.. well stuff. True? I went ahead and bought some anyway.
2) I bought regular flat black enamel paint. Not high temp... should i get a high temp one instead? The bottle (for the high temp) said 500degrees.. i couldnt imagine our headlights getting anywhere near 500 degrees, so i opted for the regular paint (due to the fact it was a buck less)
3) applying the paint -- did you guys sand it prior to spraying? I am thinking of using a 600 grit sand paper before applying the paint.
4) should i use primer? not necessary?

Rep Power: 0 1) you can try using the stock sealant without applying new sealant. there is, however, the chance that you will get the black **** all over the place and there is the chance that it will **** your progress up, and there is the chance that your lights will fog. if youre careful though, you can do it proper and nothing will happen and you won't need new sealant. (I personally didn't use any new sealant the first time I cleared my headlights years ago, but due to an accident, those headlights are gone, bleh)
2) the only reason I could think that you would need high temp. is because the lights are near the engine area and could heat up a little more than maybe what your flat enamel could handle. however, I have heard that some people have used regular and had 0 problems. (if it was only a buck less tho, why didn't you just dish out one more buck? hmm..)
3) Topfuel told me long ago that I should sand it down to get rid of the chrome ish. so my advise is do that.
4) use primer- if you're going dark color, use dark primer, if you're going light color, go light primer.

Rep Power: 788 I used the stock sealant when putting them back together. Just reheat the parts in the oven until the goo is soft again and press back together. I have a sedan, but it should work for coupes, too.

Rep Power: 0 i didnt bother with primer or anything, didnt need it cuz its sealed .. and i used that black stuff thats allready on the light .. didn't add any fresh sealent or anything .. held just fine

Rep Power: 0 mango!!! can you do a DIY or something? or not even, since it's not very hard, but at least take a couple pictures while the headlight assembly is separated. that's the one thing i want to see, since i don't know what the individual pieces are, and if i'll need to mask anything off. well, do it if you can; if you can't, that's cool, too.....

Rep Power: 0 yeah you can still see the lights perfectly ... they even look more LED. I have blue bulbs in the driving light and the turn signal, and Hyper whites for the main headlight

Rep Power: 0 a really dark gray, its called Dark Grey actually .. made by plasti koat .. i got it at pep boys ... i don't really like how the black looks ... its too flat .. doesnt look right to me
