running car w/o 02 sensor?

My friend installed an AEM short ram on his 2000 DX auto, but forgot to plug in the 02 sensor... its been hanging there for a couple days. what exactly would this cause, and did it damage anything? I guess thats why I whooped his *** in my 02 EX

No you whooped his *** cuz you have a 2k2 and an ex. About the only problem it's going to cause is maybe his check engine light to come on, but it's not gonna be good to leave it out forever, cuz his computer might think he's running lean or rich, and try to compensate. If nothing has happened yet, tell him to go ahead and plug it back in.

well its not an o2 sensor, btw.

thats on the exhaust system.

the sensor plugged into the intake is the IAT, intake air temp. sensor...

for some reason my sensor came out of the plug once.. and I duno how long it was off like that..

anyway for our car, the airflow sensor is somewhere else I believe, that sensor doesn't determine the air/fuel mixture, so if I'm not wrong on that... then maybe some unfiltered air was going into the TB, the airflow may have been messed up a bit so engine may not have been as efficent as possible (but its just a small hole. i doubt it robbed much power)

i dont think the air/fuel ratio was off though. at least, its not determined by that particular sensor.

You could use any piece of rubber that would fit over the sensor to hold it in place and a rubber washer on the outer side. The IAT just measures the temperature of the intake charge. If the charge is colder it will throw more fuel, if it is hot it will lean it out. If you weren't driving hard in hot hot weather then I wouldn't worry about it, probably ran rich..and rich is safe =)

so, what if you were to extend the wires into the interior and place the sensor in front of the vents with the A/C on.. wouldnt we get a LOT of power???

If you did that, you would get a false reading of the actual intake charge. It would read it was a cold charge and throw more fuel at it, but in reality it doesn't have enough air to burn the fuel and you would run rich, and blow your pay check right out your tailpipe because gas is damn expensive these days...
