Rep Power: 0 body kit issue
hey, i have the kaminari kit, and for some reason, my driver's side Side Skirt always gets distorted. it LOOKS normal, but every morning, i have to bend it down because it gets in the way of my door. i can't open my door without pushing it down. i've had the kit for about 5-6 months now and never had this problem before. just lately i noticed that it does that ALOT whenever it rains. anyone know any solutions? is there anything i can do to fix it? any input will be appreciated, thx!!

Rep Power: 0 i dont have a digicam...but think of it this way...you walk to your car and you open the door. the door will get caught on the top part of the side skirt and since it is polyurethane...the side skirt stretches outwards... if you pull the door out more....the side skirt will keep stretching until it lets go and slams back and hits the car. that's what happens.

Rep Power: 0 the side skirt moved up too much you need to retape the whole side skirt to get rid of the problem I had the same problem with my xenon side skirts I accidently didn't see it comming then bam scratched my side skirt and now you can see black its not that noticable though. I had to redo that whole side.

Rep Power: 0 i tried taht already. i unscrewed all the screws front back and underneath and retaped it with double sided 3M tape, and the problem is still the same. one thing werid is that ever since i got my side skirts new from kaminari, they never fit snug against the side of the car...it sticks out..especially the passenger side. should i contact kaminari and let them know? i doubt they'll be able to do anything since i've had it for so long already.

Rep Power: 0 unfortunately i dont think theyd do anything for you. it wouldnt hurt to contact them and see if they have any info they can give you. if you had a pic i think it would be a lot easier for everyone to help you, try and borrow one from someone if you can and good luck

Rep Power: 0 I have the same problem WHENEVER IT RAINS!
Although mine doesn't go up, but out, leaving a gap between the door sill and the side skirt. But usually only when it rains. When it;s dry and warm, it tightens back up flush against the door sill. I think it's actually warping with the climate change, it softens, and becomes more flexible.
I don't have a solution, the only thing I can think of is when we painted it, we used to much flex agent in the paint - something your supposed to add to paint when painting polyurethane, but that's just a guess. I am stumped and frustrated as you. Keep me informed.
Maybe its something we should contact Kaminari about, I know a lot of others have had these same problems.

oh yea, you CAN'T use double sided tape for the middle part of the skirt where it pops out...i tried that already, there is no way it will stick, cuz it's only a thin line on top, and there's nowhere the double sided tape can stick to. you can try, but i dont think it'll work. i'm gonna see if i can buy a digicam tomrorow and take pics. i need one anywayz, lol. gonna send an e-mail to kaminari and ask em out it too.

Rep Power: 0 hey osofast had the same problem... he took like four screws and screwed the kit to the inside of the door track along the bottem.. u cant even notice.. thats probally the best thing to do... it keeps the kit on perfectly.... and stops it from moving and scratching the paint.

Rep Power: 0 go to a body shop and ask them to glue it on,they have a special glue that will make sure it says tight to the car and they eill also use stuff so nothing will go through the small cracks....thats what im gettin done to mine and its been done to a different car with a urethane kit and it works great.

Rep Power: 0 yes the paint will peal off,but I want to have mine kept on..also after awhile the 3m tape will stick to your car pretty good and it would take you along time to remove it from the car. I know this from experience and its a b*tch to do especially when the tape glue doesnt want to come off with the tape. Also when you are using the 3m tape, dust and other particles do fall into those tiny holes which will cause rust. Hey Snort2001,whose that chick???damm she's hot!!

LoL...since the skirts block my door....i should just get the lambo door conversion, haha.

Screwing on the side wont hurt. Look at mines, u can only see when the door is open and when they drill the hole is very small and u can see it with the door closed without he skirt on.
