k&n, follow your owners manual or instructions with the filter. you can pick it up at any local performance shop i.e. auto zone, advance.

do you have an aftermarket intake?

no.. at the moment the car is stock... just looking for cheat mods at the moment.

well then you should just follow owners manual for instructions on when to change it. the only thing you will see when you change it is better gas mileage.

is it better to change the exhaust instead at the moment.. ? I already have plans to change the springs on the car..
i would get an intake before exhaust.

you wont really get anything out of just changing filter. I/H/E setup will only give you around 5-10whp. look in your manual for DIY filter change
A K&N high performance filter will not give any gains on our cars. The best benefit is not having to replace it every 10,000 miles. It will perform like new all the time, and you can clean it when it gets dirty. Install is easy--just take out the airbox screws and put it in.
juss take out the resonator, and yer stock filter in the air box, and put a k&n cone filter on the outside.. its like a sri

There is a filter cleaner you use for a aftermarket filter. I have the K&N air filter. Its ok. Its 30 bucks. I also have dc header and TCS exhaust. You can get it in any ordetr you want.

ok, so sorry this is such a dumb question.
basically , my injen rd cai is on the way. now im wondering, do i need to buy a k&n filter to put in it, or does it come with its own filter?

I have the K&N Drop in filter... I didn't notice anything much at all. The only thing is I noticedis that air does flow more easily. K&N cotton material is better than the stock paper **** that our cars came with. And you don't ever have to replace the K&N filter, just clean it. I don't recommend you get it unless you never plan to get an intake, like me (extended warranty).
And usually when you title a thread with DIY it means you're posting instructions on how to do it.
