Question License Lamp Switch?

Has anyone tried to wire a switch to control their license plate lamp? so that you can turn it off while still having your headlights on.... like to race around at nite without having people or cops seeing your plates and reporting you?

I haven't, but I'm sure it's possible. You'd just have to find the power wire and throw a switch on it. However. . You're going to be in deeper $hit if you get caught . .

yeah i have this done on mine, i wasn't able to find any wires that only turn off the license plate light in the front of the car, cause i don't think there are any. So i just ran wires all the way from the trunk where i tapped into the lights and ran them up to the dash where i put a switch under the console. It works just like you would think and its cool to have and all but its not that great cause the license plates are so reflective you can still see them very easily.

cops, etc dont need you're license plate lights to see your plate. they're refelective enough that they're gonna see them regardless. In case you havent noticed, there is a reason why state license plates choose the colors they do for license plates and add reflective surfaces. Didn't someone post a pic a while back of someone who made a license plate that actually slided up into the car at a hit of a switch, completely hiding the plates. now thats some 007 ****.

maybe not a switch to make the lights go out, becuase its too reflective. i actually had the bulbs taken out and been driving around with them out for like 6 months. that is untill i heard someone get a 100$ ticket for that. so mines are now back in.

my idea is to maybe make a switch that will turn on super bright lights, so bright that it makes the license plate unreadable. maybe some kind of LED setup?

the too bright thing wont work.

i can do a DIY on the james bond license plate cover thing if you guys really want, but linear actuators are not cheap, and i guarantee that if youre not good at building stuff, it will result in you having a leaky trunk

Lightbulb

Maybe AzNmiKex215 wasonto something, though... what if you put super-bright white LEDs all around the license plate, facing away from the car? I mean, when was the last time you sould look into the sun and see a plane flying through it's sillouette(sp?)?

Anyone think that this might have potential?

I got one better... saw it at ImportGT this weekend. It was a hatch that had a motorized license plate. Behind it... 12+ of the brightest goddamn bulbs ever. Blinding.

If you get one of those purple/blue license plate frames you can't see the plate either, only if the car is like 2 feet away from you. And I'm sure that comes with a switch you can just flip on and off, and you don't need to cut no hole in your trunk. There's a reason why those license plate covers are ilegal.
