gonna need more info to help you out like the power rating on the sub and amp ...if the amp is bridgeable ect.
mod should probably move this to ICE so more people can help

Don't run it like that. Just hook it up as if it were two different speakers. Don't combine any of the wires in any way. You MIGHT be able to get away with it if your amp is stable to 2 OHMs in bridged mode, OR if your speaker is 2 OHMs per coil you can run it in series and get 4 OHMs out of it. Anyway, neither of those is probably the case, so just run it like you would two different speakers. Forget all that bridging stuff. Any more questions ask me, I've done installs for about 8 years now. I know a thing or two.

Go to www.RockfordFosgate.com They have wiring diagrams for different combinations. As far as a cap I don't think you'll need one. I heard they were a waste of money.
Byrd-
Definitely not a waste. Helps a lot. I've got a Sony Xplod 1000 watt amp pushing two Pioneer 500 watt subs. The Cap prevents the dimming effect when ever hard bass hits. So it's something I would recommend getting.
