HELP with Tail Light / Rear Bumper
What's up guys n girls,
I was hoping some one could help me figure this out on wifee's car.
She has a 2003 Civic LX.
I washed the car last week and I found one of the Tail lights cracked. I bought a new one @ Honda but I had a crazy time trying to take out the Tail light out.
HOW CAN I TAKE OUT THE TAIL LIGHT W/ OUT TAKING OFF THE BUMPER???
I took out a total of 3 nuts inside the trunk, I took 1 screw from underneath ( you have to go under the bumper to get to it ) I also took the other 2 nuts that the hold the metal plate in place ( also under the bumper ) & this light is not coming out...
WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?
I know I can do it if I take of the bumper, but I think that's 2 much work for one stop light.
WHAT'S THE EASIEST WAY?
Can some one please help?
Here's a few pics of my 00 Si & wifee's car...
Yes, I am going to do some work to her car also
Thanks guys for your help...

Hey!
I can personally help you with your problem because I have done it on my 2002 ex sedan. It was a b1tch but that was because I had to figure it out.
What you need to do after you removed all the stuff you said you did is open up the trunk and you will see 2 holes on the bumper. One on the right and one on the left next to the tail light. There is a rubber plug that covers up a bolt. Remove the plug and remove the bolt on both sides. Pull the bumper cover down a tad bit and this will give you just enough room to slip in a thin hacksaw blade between the bumper cover and the space right below the tail light that won't come out. Place a picece of cardboard under the blade to protect the paint and use a back and forth motion to gently saw the little plastic tab off the bottom of the light that is holding it in. You can see it if you duck down and look in the space that you created afteryou removed those bumper bolts before. You do not need to take the bumper off to do this.
After you saw that damn tab off(which is useless by the way) you will be able to pull the light right out.
Take the new light and saw that same tab off. Then replace everything in reverse and you're all set!.
Just out of curiosity, why didn't you just bring it in to the dealer to get it fixed if it is a new car that is under warranty? Seems logical.
Let me know if you have any other questions!
Greg

The only reason why I didn't take it to the dealer is because it was caused by someone else, I guess someone in a pick up truck backed up and cracked the Tail Light... Lucky there was no body damage, just the light. So I'm almost positive they are not going to cover that...
Thanks for the tip, I am going to cut the **** out of those plastic tabs.
Is it me or is this way to hard to take out a stupid tail light???
Thanks for the info guys, I'm moving down to FL next week so once I'm there I will visit this site very often when I start doing work to her car...
Take care guys...
