trying to get this piece out to paint it

ok you know the piece thats around the the guage cluster? looked at the DIY on reverse glow guages. its the piece that you take the screws out from. im trying to paint that. i cant figure out how the hell im supposed to get that off without messing with the guage cluster. where do i start to take it out from? help needed fast.

All you do is tear the thing out. There are two clips by the steering wheel, so be carefull near there. I just pulled at the top and the sucker popped right out.

ya you need to put a little muscle in it. i used a flat head screwdriver and popped the bottom clips out and then pulled from the top

OK I did all that last night. but after i primed it it had some major rough spots on it so i decided to sand it down...bad idea. now its all scratched up. is there anything i can do to cover it up or anything?? help

Just prime it again and sand it with finer grit paper, when you put the paint on it it will smooth out, just takes work.
