DizWikedCivic is on a distinguished road
it seem pretty easy, just extending the wires, and cutting and screwing it down

i wouldnt expect to be able to keep your sliding door.

as far as i can tell, i pioneered this idea, by building my own console. another member here did it keeping the stock panel, i chose to go custom because I didnt believe you could physically fit a radio in teh stock location, due to the structure of the e-brake.

i believe he modified his e brake housung, cut some out, he had to do something. his looks really nice, and the stock change holders are far more handy than the ones i added to my own panel.

try posting in ICE, to grab his attention, i really am not sure exactly what he did to retain the stock panel.

what i would count on, however, is that you will lose the function of yrou sliding door. theres jsut not enough depth in there to fit a radio very deeply.

what i did was use half of the pocket. i used the half that was closer to the e-brake. i duct tapped my headunit to that. and the half of the pocket that i used has holes that screws onto the trim peice that u see ontop. the e-brake bracket must be cut a lil bit to fit the headunit.

if u used a aftermarket headunit the opening will not be big enough for the faceplate. so u either have to cut up the opening so it will fit, or wire your faceplate into the ceiling like me

and i think whiterabbit was the pioneer of this.. props to you and that other guy that helped me with the faceplate ceiiling thing!
