2006 Si Sedan Unveiled

The Chicago Auto Show was the unveiling of the Honda Civic Si Sedan.
The Civic Si Sedan Concept features custom 18-inch cast aluminum alloy wheels, 225/40ZR18 high-performance tires, and 4-wheel disc brakes with large cross-drilled brake rotors and 4-piston Brembo calipers.
A production model of the car should be available this fall.
Brembo calipers are very expensive. If they were to release this in production the price would increase quite a bit to cover costs.
it would be worth it for people who understand cars, but 90% of the population dont know much about brakes etc so would not want to pay more for what they percieve as a normal civic.

It is weird why the make the prototypes with items the regular cars will never use.

It is amazing. What is the cheapest new car you can buy now in the United States?

They are cheap, and you can tell. You'd be lucky if those cars lasted 5 years and the value of them deprecates so fast you'll be crying.
WOW brembo's on an SI never thought i see the day when they came on it stock. Thats kinda overkill though isnt it? You usually have brembo's on top high-end performance cars like the STI or something like that

Thats before cars were electronic based, it was all nuts and bolts back then, no computers to speak of.

It does sound like a resonable price for a new car, especially a Civic since they are really nice and reliable and they get such good gas mileage, but still a little out of my league right now. Maybe later in the year, I can think about getting one.

Buy one with around 10k miles on it, you'll save a heap.

These cars are looking too jellybean and Ford-ish. Yuck!
Hear me out!
Personally i don't really like how the new Si's are turning out to be! I think that the engineers of the new Si forgot that the civic is a sport compact (others may call an econo-box)! They keep making the civic into a bigger car, it's almost as big as an Accord! The 02-05 model i think they nailed it on the head! Now i wish that Honda would get their heads out of their A**ES and bring the Type R over here without downgrading to much, just enough to pass the emissions! ALL IN ALL I'LL STICK WITH MY 2002 Si for years to come! Now my fellow Si fans, don't get me wrong the 06 Si is a sweet ride just to big for a civic!

Yes I agree about the Civic being big now. Why are they doing this?
Alot of people still like the old Civic hatch because of its small size, not everyone wants a big car.
I think they'd have an even bigger market if they actually made it a smaller car again.

Yeah but they call that FIT now! LOL! Although the fit is a pretty sweet ride, i think to many people are going to have them.... I like the fact that the 02-05 EP3 Civic Si's are quite unique and in some cases a rare car to find! It's not like the EG-6 where wherever you go some idiot who calls himself a street racer is right around the corner to flex his NOS ( The correct term Nitrous) muscles! LOL!
I know this is an old topic but honestly the civic now is still a small car. The coupe appeals to those who only need a small two door car with a shorter wheelbase then the 7th gen civics and even less cubic feet of interior room (even though many would argue that due to the styling it feels like there is more room in the car). The reason why the civic seems so big now it's because it's wide and fairly low. It honestly does look a little bulbousy but there's nothing wrong with it's styling. ALSO the reason why concept cars have special things on them is to make them look more attractive/hype them up. If you saw the civic si coupe concept you'd see how it had red and white leather across the whole interior, when the civic si doesn't even have leather as an option.
