Air Filter Replacement Recommendations?
Air Filter Replacement Recommendations?
I am going to replace my stock air filter on my 99 LX. I am keeping the car stock so no intake kits for me. I want to know what's recommended as far as a good quality air filter for stock replacement? I was thinking K&N? Any advice?

napa gold (wix) is one of the best. stay away from K&N unless you like only 92% filtration instead of 99%. oem specs call for an air filter with at least 98% or better if you want the engine to last.
Re: Air Filter Replacement Recommendations?
Now I'm worried after reading this. I have a short ram air intake on my car and replaced the filter with one I bought from ebay for 8 bucks. It is a nice looking cone filter, I couldn't see the point in spending 60 and then another 25 every time i had to clean it. How long do the throw away filters usually last?
My filter is either from Glazious or Auto Grimmig. Do you know anything about these? Will this decrease the life of my engine?

purolator *PureOne* is also a great one. not the regular.
for the short ram, i recommend getting AEM dryflow filter which will last the life of the car. its a synthetic paper cone filter which is reusable with the cleaning kit and comes in every size. its not as expensive as you think and the AEM cleaning kit lasts a long time. if you want your engine to last, its a good investment. i personally chose the weapon-r SW1 foam filter but it can be messy to clean and because it filters so well, i need to clean it every 6 months. it only comes in 2 sizes also...the aem you can prolly go with yearly cleanings.
