say i get an hid conversion kit can i take any hid bulb and plug it into the ballast or would i have to get the same brand of bulb??

hid conversion kits usually come with standard ballast AMP connectors. they will work with any bulb size even oem d2s with an adapter harness. the bulb size depends on your housing. if you have halogen reflector, you need a rebased bulb like H4 for 01-03 civic or 9006 for 04-05 civic. so basically you need bulb that fits your housing. the ballasts are all the same and will work with any bulb.
