transmission fluid color
transmission fluid color
My Mother just bought my daughter a 2007 Honda Civic EX with 25000 Miles(Thanks Mom!!!). I checked the transmission fluid and it is a light brown or honey color rather than the pink/red color. There is no burnt odor. is this normal or ok? Also, the previous owner must have been a smoker. I thoought changing the a/c or pollen filter might help but the owners manual doesn't say where it is located. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Re: transmission fluid color
should be red. if its brown/black, its time to change. the 30k change interval is coming up so might as well get it done now. pollen filters are right behind the glove box where the blower is. the box usually has some parts that snap off inside so the box will swing down. then theres a small cover door that clips off and the filters pull out. usually theres two. any auto store should have them. also i recommend getting some whatodor.com spray and while the fan is running full blast, spray some mist to the bottom of the passenger dash where the air pickup is. it will circulate thru the system and kill any odor. spray it all around the car and on the seats too. smoke will disappear. i recently used the stuff to take out manure smell from my trunk and it worked after a minute of spraying.

I work at a Honda dealership in South Jersey....the new civics have the "maintainence minder" systems..the car will tell you what service it requires based upon your dsriving habits. At 25000 miles it is close to a trans. change probably if it hasnt been declined by the previous owner. And as far as the HEPA (cabin/pollen) filter, it is located directly behind the glovebox. It is very easy to figure out. Just open the glovebox and you'll see how to pull it down completely, and the filter cover is right there. Easy as pie on the new civics.
