Tire Storage

is it better to deflate tires before storing them? the guy at the tire shop said no you don't have to , they are filled with Nitrogen. I read places like the Tire Rack recommend deflating them to about 15 PSI. when storing them.

Any opinions or suggestions?

Re: Tire Storage

I think you are worrying too much, you don't drive an indycar.

I leave the stock tires on my Evo all winter long while it sits and never had a problem 2 years in a row. Done the same thing for years on all of my sportscars with grippy soft tires.

Re: Tire Storage

From what I read before that you should have them standing up, not on its sides.

Re: Tire Storage

if its standing up, you will get a flat spot on the tire if it stays in that same position. even without being on the rim and inflated. just a loose tire with its own weight will be enough. thats why stores have to rotate the tire stock every so often or at least spin the tire so it sits in a different position.
